Abstract:

The aim of this study was to assess the influence of trout farm effluents on water quality parameters in the Dohezar Stream. In this study two trout farms and 7 stations were selected and physiochemical of water, including air and water temperatures, dissolved oxygen concentration (DO), pH, electrical conductivity (EC), water flow and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) were measured every 30 days for one year. A combined total of 60 benthic macroinvertebrate taxa were collected from the seven sites of the stream. The results showed that trout farms had a significant impact on EC, pH, water flow and BOD in the water throughout the year and among stations (p < /em>

Benthic macroinvertebrate susceptibility to trout farm effluents.

The direct effects of a Virginia trout farm on benthic macroinvertebrates were examined using multiple approaches. Static laboratory tests with the amphipod, Hyallela azteca, were conducted with exposures to water taken from a spring and from effluent both above and below a sedimentation basin. Onsite mesocosms were constructed to expose previously colonized artificial substrates to the same tr...

The effect of trout farm effluents on the water quality parameters of Zaringol Stream (Golestan, Iran) based on NSFWQI and WQI indexes

The aim of this study was to assess the potential impact of Trout farm effluents on water quality of Zaringol stream based on NSFWQI and WQI indexes. Some physicochemical water quality parameters were measured from 14 point during December 2009 to September 2010 seasonality. The average value of NSFWQI is 53.21 and it shows spatial and temporal variation. The maximum value or best water quality...

Impact of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) farm effluents on water physico-chemical parameters of Ryjab River (Kermanshah province)

The impact of rainbow trout farm effluents on water physico-chemical parameters of Ryjab River was investigated. Five stations were considered at different parts of the river. Station 1 located at the headwaters of the river, station 2 after nearly 30 percent of fish farms, station 3 after 60 percent of fish farms, station 4 after the last fish farm and station 5 located one kilometer after the...

Assessment of fish farm effluents on macroinvertebrates based on biological indices in Tajan River (north Iran)

Impacts of effluent from fish farming activities on fluvial ecosystems lead to deterioration of water quality and changes in the macroinvertebrates assemblage. In this study, the influence of fish farm effluents on water quality and macroinvertebrates communities of Tajan River was investigated to evaluate the suitability of macroinvertebrates based on biological metrics and indices. Benthic...

influence of land-based fish farm effluents on the water quality of yanã½klar creek

this study evaluates the influence of yanã½klar creek on the water quality of fethiye gulf. accordingly, this study demonstrates (i) change in the water quality of fethiye gulf from 2006 to 2007; (ii) the water quality classification of the yanã½klar creek feeding fethiye gulf; and (iii) how land-based fish farm influences yanã½klar creek water quality in a fethiye-gã¶cek specially protected ar...
